Un dahl de pois jaunes

A dahl of yellow peas

Ingredients

  • Yellow peas Si Facile well rinsed and drained - 1 jar of 500 ml
  • Onion, diced - 1
  • Finely chopped garlic cloves - 4
  • Finely chopped hot pepper - 1
  • Large diced tomato - 1
  • Coconut milk - 3/4 cup
  • Finely chopped ginger - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin - 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric - 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala - 1 tbsp
  • Salt and pepper - to taste
  • Butter (or olive oil) - 2 tbsp
  • Plain Greek yogurt - for serving
  • Coriander leaves - for serving
  • Grilled vegetables (eggplant, cauliflower, etc.) - for serving
  • Cooked rice - for serving

Preparation

  1. In a frying pan, brown the onion in the butter. Add the garlic and continue cooking for 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Add chili pepper, ginger, cumin, turmeric and garam masala. Mix well.
  3. Add the tomato, coconut milk and yellow peas. Season with salt and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Simmer covered for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove the lid for the last 10 minutes. Adjust the seasoning.
  5. Serve over rice with yogurt, grilled vegetables and coriander. Enjoy!
